Rendercote

Rendercote is based on blend of limestone aggregates, sourced mostly from the Buxton area.

Breathable | Robust | Sustainable | Traditional

Rendercote is based on our best understanding of the probable mix used for the high relief stucco work at Hardwick Old Hall in Derbyshire, a lime plaster finish exposed to the elements since the mid eighteenth century. Rendercote is based on blend of limestone aggregates, sourced mostly from the Buxton area. It is combined with a moderately hydraulic lime and natural stearate to repel liquid water but allow free transport of water vapour. It is for use only for masonry backgrounds and is intended as a robust two coat system for high exposure areas such as parapet walls, chimneys and plinths, as well as windmills and lighthouses.

To find out more information about the applications of Rendercote as a lime plaster finish for your projects, get in touch with Best of Lime today.

A 25kg bag of Rendercote will cover approximately 1.7m2 if used at 10mm thick. This applies to both Base and Finish.

Water first, clean, no more than 6 litres to start, more can be added if a wetter consistency is required. Next add the plaster - Rendercote can be mixed with a paddle, a standard drum mixer or a pan mixer. Be careful when adding the plaster not to create excessive dust, or splash back. Eye protection must be worn at all times when handling lime. Lastly, add the fibres from the small bag contained in the 25kg bag. The fibres should be added gently, though it is not necessary to 'tease' them in. Rendercote is not for use on lath, or a timber framed background, please see Warmcote and Limecote. Dubbing out of damaged masonry can be done best by mixing the Rendercote Base slightly stiffer (less water), ensuring that the full amount of fibres have been added. Once filled to flush, apply a light scratch to the face of the repair. Overall, Rendercote Base and Finish are intended as a 20mm system. Once any dubbing out has been carried out and the repair has set to ‘green hard’ (hardened, but not dry), apply a 10mm coat of Base and scratch to give a good key. Once the scratch coat has hardened off, but not dried, apply the 10mm of Finish. The final coat is best finished with a steel trowel to a smooth, closed finish. In high exposure areas, it is recommended to decorate with a mineral paint system, giving greater, long lasting protection than a traditional lime wash.

"Thanks,, I'm fully converted now 👍 won't be using lime putty for a while that's for sure, much better finish compared to what I've been using for the past 8 years or so, and peace of mind that it doesn't crack, lighter, less mess, no binding in needed.

I was also pleasantly surprised about how far it goes per bag 👍 definitely a game changer for me, will be back next week sometime for some more."

"Used their product Patchcote on my timber framed house for some repairs.

Really easy to mix, apply and finish.

Left-over product was just as pliable 3 days later, it can be left sealed inside the container supplied, after mixing, for up to a year!

Best product I’ve worked with!!"

"Limecote and Warmcote are ideal products for use on timber framed buildings and low strength substrates with their excellent flexibility, bond, and light weight compared to sanded plasters. Being dry bagged makes it easy to transport and store, with the added advantage of being able to adjust the mix to suit thin or very thick coats without compromising the product, or the quality of the finished work."
